A 1940s style trailer for the indie flick "When Darkness Falls".
This short feature (58 mins) is a 1940s style film noir, shot, acted, styled and even scored in the manner of 1940s film noir. The script (a gender bending detective story), was written as a practical component to my Honors thesis on gender in Howard Hawks' 'The Big Sleep' (1946), completed in 2004. The film itself was shot on location and in studio. Bluescreen was used to emulate back projections (and occasionally to compensate when we couldn't find appropriate locations - such as a 1940s morgue). The finished film was completed in 2006 and has been screened at a number of festivals and independently. I was fortunate enough to work with some very talented actors (including Sarah Bollenberg and Elizabeth Sandy as the leads, and Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Katy Manning guesting cameos).
It simply could not have been made without a number of talented and generous volunteers and a bunch of wonderful actors in supporting roles.
