I had a similar experience. I got to see Terri Hendrix and Loyd Maines in Austin on Father's Day. The entire Maines family was there. Even the Grand Kids. it was special.

I met my husband online 10 years ago and when he came to East Texas to help me move to Amarillo to be with him this was playing on the radio the day we left my Grandma's house. :) We will be married 10 years in July.

I was fortunate enough to meet and see Susan perform in Hot Spring in May. When Susan sang "Wide Open Spaces" her parents were in the audience and when she got to the part "don't forget to check the oil" her dad yelled out his part. It still gives me goose bumps when I remember it. How are the doggies? Robin

I used to play at an open mic at the ritz on ryman in missoula mt back in 93-94. She used to sing this song there. Her mother was there one night. I was too drunk to finish a John Prine song. Her mother made me feel better about being an idot. Susan is a beautiful human.
