Yes, Mariah Carey did write additional lyrics to the song to flesh it out, but what we hear here is the heart of the track- and it is Horner/Jennings. So, Carey added lyrics, but the main lyric and melody already existed before her involvement.

As I watch this video, it's easy for me to remember how Christmases were as a child, and I'm pretty that most, if not all, of us really remember the magic. The excitement of the first snowfall, the aroma of christmas cookies and gingerbread as your parents carefully pulled out the beautiful and fragile ornaments. The family would then decorate the tree, and you waitied to put the big star on top. Those are the Christmases I remember.
