For more Uvdal click on user nadflah. THIS is an interior video from The Uvdal Stave Church, a small wooden medieval stave church from the small valley of Uvdal in Numedal in Norway. The stave church was originally constructed just after the year 1168, which we know through dendrochronological dating of the pine tree used during the construction. The logs were not completely dry when the construction took place.
The church is a small and very beautifully preserved classic Norwegian stave church. The interior decoration is in ancient Norwegian style and the symbols are both christian and non-christian. You know, you should really visit the whole of the Numedal valley, which has the largest collection of beautiful medieval wooden buildings in Norway :D
It is forbidden to shoot video or take pictures of the interior. This video was made some years ago as a cooperative project between Fortidsminneforeningen (the owner) and Numedalsnett (a local internet resource). We were allowed to shoot the interior with small production means and a minimum of lightning.

The video does not do the interior justice: I've spent eight long summers working in that church, and the old decor is real colorful.
The most beautiful place on earth!

Oh, this was years ago and we were in a hurry while the fire department waited outside. Didn't even have proper lights. But I think I'd re-edit it in the Avid and use it differently in the future. To me, this is a period piece from the hectic day we were finally allowed into that place. This video is OLD now :-)
