@angelasexymama If its the ACL, usually you can walk after the surgery because the ACL holds your leg together. they might take a graft and put that in. if that is done, usually you can walk with your knee locked straight with possibly 2-3 months of therapy.
Now if you tore any meniscus tissue then you may not be able to walk for a good 3-4 months without crutches.
Im 22 years old, I Injured my groin and both kness during a pick up game, I have crepitus on both of my knees, Its about a year and a half now since the accident. now heres the thing, before I can touch the rim with both hands, (I'm only 5'7). but after the injury, as pain and swelling subsided, I'm so depressed that until now It still hurts. It hurts when there's weight bearing like standing up from a chair, jogging, It even bothers me when taking free throws.. ='(
Eleven years ago I torn my front acl and they told me I should have the surgery to fix it at the time my three kids were all under the age of five do I decided do therpy and wear my knee brace well to make a long story short I just recently slipped on some ice and I torn my miniscus again fluid from injury and cronic cartliage damage well I'm having the surgury how long will it take to heal after surgury???
my doctor gave me some bs excuse . he was like.."oh we didnt think the knee would collapse from removing that much cartilage". i went in for surgery walking and after surgery came out limping....to this day 7 yrs later i still limp in pain and cant run at all. because the removal of the broken cartilage resulted in bone on bone grinding of the lateral condyles. i jsut saw on youtube theres a clinic in california that does meniscus transplants for situations like mine and urs. ill update u.
@parim31 A total replacement of the knee i have been told should be the worst thing ever. 'you should try other doctors before even considering a knee replacement. That is the last thing i would do. My knee is still messed up and its been over 2 years since i had surgery but my doc don't wanna operate on it unless i can't walk.
@brugerper i had my lateral meniscus destroyed playing sports and it was removed during acl surgery and now my knee is collapsed. they wont giv me a artificial meniscus. they just want to do total replacement of knee. any advice?
got %40 of my meniscus removed on wednesday. Dont be scared and go have it. I am able to walk today, pretty easily without limping. I got no repair or stitches, thats why the recovery was fast. Got 2 holes bleeding a little during the day. Thats all. (Determine your doctor good, it is very important)
