Buddy Guy and the Damn Right Blues Band perform a bit of the Jimi Hendrix classic "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" that Hendrix originally recorded for his 1968 album "Electric Ladyland". "Sunshine of Your Love" is also played. Cream originally recorded that song in 1967 for their album "Disraeli Gears". This was recorded @ Amager Bio in Copenhagen, Denmark on July 9th, 2010.

  • No WHAMMY!

  • I don't know what to say. I'm shocked!!!

  • And this guy uses no whammy bar! The best!

  • @msb105

Hendrix was influenced by other bluesmen not just Buddy. Albert King, Howlin Wolf, Elmore James. Plus he taught himself how to play the guitar with his teeth in 1961, probably without ever seeing Buddy do it. He said himself-

"the idea of doing that came to me in a town in Tennessee. Down there you have to play with your teeth or else you get shot. There’s a trail of broken teeth all over the stage...".

So your comment isnt historically accurate.

  • I saw him live and I swear he made me cry. Dude's a legend. Jimi studied him and Clapton idolizes him.

  • Buddy is the best blues player ever .But Hendrix changed electric guitar sound in the rock scene then. All the greats [loose term for those rock stars] acknowledge this . Clapton,Townsend etc etc When Neil Young came out and said he changed it thats good enough for me.

  • i live how people all say that jimi hendrix changed guitar playing as we know it, when in reality buddy guy was doing stuff like playing with his teeth and behind his back before hendrix was playing, and was where hendrix, clapton and stevie ray all got there playing style

  • Hell yeah Buddy! Keep on rockin'!

  • yep buddy is the best. saw him singapore on 26 march

  • wow i got a live clapton show that he plays on so this aint my 1st time seeing buddy guy but i had no idea he was damn cool and had those skills to pay the bills like he do!
