the rsx type s has such high compression that the synthetic makes this engine last a lot longer because of less heat and friction....you can run conventional if you want but your engine would rather have good synthetic oil......trust me mine talks to me and told me so

Castrol GTX is not shitty oil for a close to stock type-S, while synthetic is better in some cases its not at all a necessity in this case. Most mechanics recommend castrol gtx over synthetic in higher mileage cars and older cars, If you go synthetic for just one oil change its rough on your engine, You have to stay consistent with Synthetic(switching back to regular wears the engine more).So in his case its smarter(cost and proficiency) to use Castrol GTX over royal purple or another synthetic
