"Kulu Days" is track 4 on the CD (formerly) entitled Dhauladhar Dreaming by David Parsons, New Zealand composer, producer and musician who blends Asian instruments with electronics. David Parsons' music is stunningly beautiful, compellingly spiritual and strikingly original. It is often inspired by Asian culture and geography. You can find many of his albums from Celestial Harmonies at http://www.harmonies.com You may find this one on itunes under its new title, In the Footsteps of Padmashambhava. The track is now called Sojourn in the Kulu Valley.
Kulu or Kullu (spelled both ways) is a town in scenic, narrow Kullu Valley in the state of Himachal Pradesh, north India, where the Dussehra festival is celebrated in October. According to
http://www.himachalonline.com/kullu , Kullu Valley is "literally the valley of a hundred temples and a thousand deities, it offers peace, a mysterious, spiritual peace which pervades every nook, every corner, and a peace breathed into the mountains, trees, stars and streams by countless sages and `rishis' who came here to contemplate." This is perfectly expressed in this music by David Parsons. Just to the north is Lahaul Valley, celebrated in Parsons' epic work Dorje Ling. To the west is Dharamsala, headquarters of the Dalai Lama. The Kullu Valley cuts through the Dhauladhar (white mountain) range of the Himalayas.
