I heard it in many ways. 1.- Straight forward (Josef Hofmann) 2.- Slower and with the pedalling and phrasing of Pletnev but in tempo (Olga Mondolfi de Del Monte) and 3.- This one!!!!!!!!! I never imagined before this splendid imitation of a mechanic music box getting at the end slower and slower until it stops. Bravo Pletnev!!!!!

His Scarlatti recording includes a lot of sonatas one doesn't usually hear when pianists do number of them. Not to sound carping, but Pletnev's music box sounds like it's big enough to fill a soccer stadium - a little lighter perhaps. But I do think Pletnev is a major talent. On the radio late one night I came in on the first movement of the Chopin Sonata #2 - fabulous but unrecognizable - I thought
"finally they transferred the Rachmaninoff recording of this to LP". Of course it was Pletnev.

Thank you, sam0xin, I will listen to it (I have C. Ph. Em. Bach Sonatas, but no Scarlatti)!

@marialebed You'd like to have more fun by Pletnev ? If did not had yet ..his Scarlatti Sonatas ( 2CD set ) by Virgin Classics is an event of the century ! So REVOLUTIONARY, DIMENSIONAL & COLRFUL ! I recommend .
Everybody plays it beautiful, but Pletnev's "Music box" is unbelievable real. It's amazing how does he use sound effects, the pedal and rubato. Bravo!

You must listen to this version, it's amazing in my opinion and at the end you forget that it's being played on a piano , you think you actually hear a music box!
