08/21/2009 This video is for all the Conrail fans out there! On Friday, August 21, 2009 I woke up in the early morning hours to catch Conrail Shared Assets train WPCA-11 heading south on the Vineland/Pennsgrove Secondary. CSXT SD40-2 in Conrail Quality paint is at the helm, with CSXT SD40-2 #8855.

Working today's train was an extremely friendly crew.

This Conrail SD40-2 is a gem! Its my favorite unit working Conrail Shared Assets. The horn is perfect, the paint looks great! Its just an all around awesome Conrail locomotive.

Below you will find Quick Click points so it makes it easier for you to watch the video by location. I highly suggest that you watch the video in its entirety. I captured mostly horn/crossing action, so you won't be bored.

Quick Click Times/Location

0:00 / Gloucester, NJ aka Horn Alley
2:10 / Woodbury, NJ aka CP Woodbury
5:03 / Paulsboro, NJ (right after the Paulsboro Moveable Bridge - near the Paulsboro Yard office).
7:37 / BridgePort, NJ - Filmed near SMS/CSAO interchange

That is all for now, thanks for watching! Please take a second to leave me a comment and rate! Thanks, I appreciate it!

  • At 6:08, was the conducter reading the newspaper?

  • I don't believe so, he had just got done talking to be a few seconds before I started rolling the tape. Once I started filming, they continued on. Might have been railroad related, since they were about to start some switching operatings.

  • awesome shot dude! how many trains go through here? love those CR SD40-2s

  • On a normal day, there's at least two trains. MI-21, which is a local Conrail Shared Assests job working out of Millville and CA-11, which is a job out of Conrail Pavonia Yard in Camden, NJ that runs to Deepwater, NJ. . In my second shot, filmed from Woodbury, you can actually see where the tracks split off. MI-21 goes one way, CA-11 goes the other. Of course, ethanol and coal trains also run. But that's not daily...

  • great video. is that the walt whitman in the background

  • Thanks, yes that is the Walt Whitman bridge in the backround.

  • It's a shame NS dug out the class lights. I like the way CSX didn't......it saves a lot of ugly patch-ups. Great video/catch, great RS3L.
