This video shows preserved ex-Southern Railway rebuilt Merchant Navy Class no 35028 Clan Line running as scrapped classmate 35017 Belgian Marine on 3rd December 2011. It is pulling the VSOE Orient Express British Pullman on one of its regular lunchtime circular runs on the Surrey Hills loop, from London Victoria via Staines, Woking, Guildford, Redhill.

The loco was gleaming and spotless after her recent repaint and polish.

The train is first seen just past Egham Station, then passing slowly through Guildford Station, then finally storming up the bank through Gomshall Station with some good whistling.

The video is taken with my iPhone, and the low sun made it difficult to get good exposure!

  • 3 very good clips. Egham was excellent, but Gomshall was awe-inspiring. Barry
