Krakow Tour Plus visit to The Wieliczka salt Mines

This is part one of our trip to Krakow. We took an early Ryanair flight from Stansted to Krakow, then took the train to the city centre, our hotel was called Andel Hotel and was located right next to the station.

In the afternoon we took the train to Wieliczka to visit the salt mines, well worth a visit.

Here are some notes about the Wieliczka Salt Mines: The Wieliczka Salt Mine, located in the town of Wieliczka in southern Poland, lies within the Kraków metropolitan area. The mine continuously produced table salt from the 13th century until 2007 as one of the world's oldest operating salt mines (the oldest being the Bochnia Salt Mine).

The mine's attractions for tourists include dozens of statues and an entire cathedral that have been carved out of the rock salt by the miners. About 1.2 million persons visit the Wieliczka Salt Mine annually.

Commercial mining was discontinued in 1996 due to low salt prices and mine flooding.

great vid guys, glad you enjoyed yourselves....that lift in the salt mine looked a little intense, almost as intense as that old train! At least the posh hotel room made up for it...nice bathroom.

I didn't forget the name of that awesome camera ! 'The FLIP' was it eh ? Hahaha... It's clear as crystal ! We have it here in Holland too for 189 euro's... I think it's about 150 GBP... Great gadget ! Beautiful to see you guys had such a great time !
