More LTTE weapons have begun to surface. A stock of weapons proscribed under international law has been recovered.
Our Representative Kelum Gunatilake said the LTTE experienced a massive defeat in Puthukudiyiruppu, liberated during the operations led by Major Gen. Kamal Gunaratne, Brig. Shavendra Silva, Brig. Chagi Gallage and Col. Ravipriya by surrounding the area from all fronts. Task Force Eight commanded by Col. Ravipriya is heading the search operations in the area. A small suicide vessel which submerges two third while on water was found. Troops of the 10th Signal Corps found it. A large unidentified missile was also found. Its operative system is unknown and its shape and the explosives embedded in the 10 foot missile give an idea of the extent of destruction it could unleash. This weapon known as bunker buster is banned under international military laws. Troops also recovered T-56 weapons and mortar shells.
