It's funny.. some people love Windows 7 so much they'll install it on old systems that really have no use for it. And then there's me, who hates it so much I stick with XP even on recent machines.
@Jallge you don't need to disable services, that will actually be more detrimental to performance than help it. After a while once the superfetch has made the caches it will run a bit faster. I've ran windows 7 on pentium III's so it will run fine without disabling services.
@InsaneMetalSoldier you can install xp drivers for sound. Just right click the setup and hit properties and do xp compatability mode. It works, I've done it on machines before.
@irockas Something important: If you are using dedicated hardware, like a Sound Card, and a Videocard, there are more chances that they work on Windows 7! Yeah...Probably you can upgrade. And well obviously, if the name of the procesor is the same, the higher is the number, better is the processor because it's the frecuency. Remember that AMD puts a name like "Ahtlon 1,8 2200" it means that the actual frecuency is 1,8Ghz, but "runs as good as" an intel of 2,2Ghz xD I think it's just marketing
@InsaneMetalSoldier yesterday i changed my pc i got the 140 gb hard drive , a nvidea gforce mx4000 128 mb card and a 512 ram card (now igot 1gig of ram).
and a amd athlon 2200+ and i got a sound card a c-media 8738 last time i had a cmedia sound card windows 7 detected sound card drivers and it ran well enough.
and btw which is better amd athlon 2200+ or amd athlon 1800+

@NitroGadvRules doesn't make sense to me, it was unusable with all the default services. then i disabled some and it ran just as fast as xp.
