This is a video intended for anyone like me who was curious how Fallout would run on a newer model unibody MacBook Pro. I normally play Fallout on X360, but now I'm happy with the alternative. The framerate here for the video kinda averaged out around 20fps, but I chalk that up to fraps running in the background and recording at high quality, all on the stock 5400 rpm HD - when not recording with fraps I had a steady framerate around 32fps. My specs and settings are below. I'll probably post more videos in the future, showing content in different areas for comparison. Watch it in HQ, but seriously, it looks so much better than this video. Youtube's compression sucks.

Late-2008 unibody MacBook Pro
2.4ghz Core 2 Duo, 2gb ram, 9600M GT, 240gb 5400 rpm configuration stock
Windows XP under Boot Camp with SP3, Boot Camp drivers from Snow Leopard build 10A380

The game is running patch 1.5, settings on High, AA 4x, AF 8x, HDR on, 960x600.

  • hey i got macbook late 08 model 1gb of ram and default graphics. will it work?????

+ do you have the disk or downloaded?

  • @GODtheSniper Depends on the graphics card. MacBook non-pro? That would be Intel graphics and no it wouldn't, or at least not playable in my opinion. A MacBook Pro with Nvidia would be a different story but you'd have to upgrade the ram, 1gb isn't gonna cut it. Mine is downloaded, I own it for 360 so I didn't feel too bad installing the Win version without paying a second time.

  • stealth boy :D

  • That's not a stealth boy, I'm wearing the Chinese Stealth Armor, from the Operation: Anchorage add-on. :D

  • how do u get it on a mac thats what i have and a cant find in stores

  • First off you'll need an Intel Mac, PPC Macs won't do. There is no Mac version of Fallout 3 so you'll have to install Windows. You can use Parallels or whatever, but I use Bootcamp... No sense in running this in a virtual machine and taking a hit in performance. Install Windows XP or 7 in Bootcamp, then install Fallout 3 and get the latest patches, as well as the latest Bootcamp drivers via Snow Leopard.

  • @moodswingmcgee You need Bootcamp and a copy of Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7.

  • Hahaha! I remember when I first beat operation anchorage. That stealth suit never got unequipped after that. Ever lol

  • I have no idea.Windows 7 Windows vista or Windows xp for gaming. I may sound retarted but help?

  • Hey, I'm planning on getting a new MacBook Pro 15" 2.4 GHz i5 with the 330M Video Card and 4GB MEM, do you think this will work on it with these high settings like in the video?

  • Would a stock 13" MBP run this game smoother than an xbox 360 at the same resolution? If so with what operating system?
