Ural vs Dnepr - Which rig won? :)

My 1 wheel drive Ural Tourist leading Rich's Dnepr 2 wheel drive rig through the woods of Goffstown & Weare, New Hampshire, U.S.A. in early 2009.

The dnepr is much better with a bit of weight in the sidecar. I also think that the dnepr 2wd is much better onroad than offroad. That's where it shines, I think.  The handling is great.

@Dadabean : I own both of these rigs now. The Dnepr now has a leading link front-end which helped off-road handling quite a bit. It is very harsh off-road compared to the Ural though. On the pavement it is awesome!

@BavarianBomberWrench That's good to hear! Nice to be able to see the strengths and weaknesses of both designs firsthand. I have owned both an MT-16 and a 650 Tourist before. Right now, I am in the process of purchasing an MT-11 with leading-link and 3.89 rear-end. After seeing your off-road videos, I may want to purchase a 4.62 rear-end. Lots of National Forest roads to explore here in North Florida!

@Dadabean : If you are doing mostly off-road riding, yes, use the lower ratio rear drive unit. And sign up on Soviet Steeds forum if you haven't already.
