Have been working on this conversion for over a month now, working on it whenever I had spare time. All I'm missing now is the exhaust and some wiring. Engine is from a 1988 Suburban, I have a video of this engine running in that car. The car had a 350 Olds diesel in it.

  • Hey cool conversion man! What kind of gears are you using in your differential?

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD Thanks man! I did check the differential ratio, but I don't remember right now. It's the same as original with 5,7D and Th200. Now I have a Th700 behind the 6,2D and the rpms are really nice and low at highway speed, but it also has a lot of speed when pulling of, so I'm very pleased

  • What trans are you using in the caprice?

How cold was it in the video??

  • @LDPosse I used the TH350C trans that was in the car, but it had a gas converter, so I didn't like it. I have taken it out now and I have a Th700 with a 6,2 converter ready to be installed.

I think it was around -5 celcius, but it had to get the air out of the diesel system, that's why it was hard to start.

  • why are the 350 oldsmobile diesel shit ?

  • @HipHopKiller94 I think the 350 olds diesel is bad, because they are not built strong enough, like a diesel should be built, especially heads and headgaskets are to weak for a diesel, compression ratio is too high aswell, bottom end is not made strong enough, and lots of other small things, they don't last very long before something goes wrong, you are lucky to get like 70k miles out of one without trouble, this is just my opinion. I know many people like these engines.

  • Badass

  • i want one now

  • Sweet!! I want to put a 6.2 in something like that too- any big GM car from late 60's to mid 80's. Were there any problems making it fit? Gotta admit the engine compartment sure seems roomier when you don't have to worry about a/c. Here in S. Tex it is not a luxury though. It is like having you having a heater. I wish you had made several videos of the swap as it progressed. Again- congratulations on a job well done!

  • i love the idea of a 6.2 in a big ass car.

  • Excellent!

  • I love it CW.
