In this video Anssi Vanjoki about the Nokia N97. He notes that it has been a tremendous success for Nokia in terms of how many have been shipped and how much money it has made Nokia, but it has been a disappointment in terms of the experience quality for the consumers. He moves on to describe how Nokia fixed the situation (PR 2.0) and how Symbian^3 will be ensuring it does not happen again.

Nice video Rafe, but the audio from the interviewers is quite low.

We weren't miced up - originally we were going to cut the interviewers / questions (keep flow), but left a few bits in to give a sense of what it was like. Wont be doing this so much in future videos. Thanks for feedback.

Unstable software, memory out errors etc. Whether it impacted you depended on use cases.

The 5800 had a bit of this in the first few fiirmware, but was generally ok by v12 and certainly by v21 (and arguably less of an issue to begin with). Hence very little noise around 5800 compared to N97.

Wow! Congratulations to Mr. Vanjoki for having the balls to even allow such a relaxed media interview. I think this truly shows that the top brass at Nokia understands the "new media" and the power of the internet. I think he honestly believes in Nokia and his sincerity was apparent.

Very progressive and a positive experience.

The user experience is crap on this phone, -even the keyboard layout.

But the hardware is awesome. I've dropped this phone many times, and it has survived them all, I've even dropped it on concrete while riding my bike!. The only hardware that has broken is the button to lock up the screen, -but I fixed that with a screen lock app.

I'm going to miss the resistive screen when I buy lumia 800 (no more gloved phone handling). But I'm looking forward to superb hard- and software.

It is my last phone from Nokia, even though I'd never buy into Steve Jobs' hyped creation (and I'm a Mac user of several decades). HTC is the only true innovator in this market.

Yeah, it works, provided you hold it a certain way when making calls. Nokia and Apple are in the same league. Neither of them are anywhere near HTC in terms of quality or functionality.

Just put "N97 touchscreen problem" into any search engine and discover just how poorly built this phone is. It is the last Nokia I'll ever buy.

They should have offered a refund to everyone unfortunate enough to have bought the N97. After the inordinate amount I spent on this phone, and how terrible it is, I'll never buy nokia again

the exact same thing happen to other company as well a company called "apple" with their iphone 4 i read alot of news about iphone 4 issues they're also surprised that iphone 4 has so many problems...but the difference is that nokia admitted the issues of the product and apple don't...lol by the way are they gonna do a huge improvement in terms of performance for n97 at all ?they need to..otherwise it's kinda unfair for people who spent lots of money on this device that doesn't feel stable=)
