i'm glad that the traction/skid control works, along with rollover sensors, and hill descent control. the driver adjustable suspension was invaluable! i won't even begin to talk about what a great help iDrive was on rock crawling. i spent almost $85,000 on my X5 - hey, it's got 4 video monitors and built in navigation, not to mention the back cameras.
but i can't seem to find out how to engage low range. my friends 4runner he bought used for under $20,000 have this lever that says 4L and 4H.

It's a cute effort and a fair PR stunt but the X5 was made for cruising Starbucks and carrying your golf bag to the driving range, not for serious off-road use. I'd feel better with a Subaru than this car.

@Extremer98 maybe a jeep wrangler? the JEEP WRANGLER is the one of the best offroad stock vehicle. my friends 03 wrangler (STOCK) went through 2+ feet of snow with no problem with frequently stopping. we were the only people on the road along with hummers or other vehicles getting stuck. we were making our own lane with people following us on the hwy

it's not a real suv. for offroad..maybe jeep wrangler...range rover....

oh come on my subaru outback could do most of that.. except for pulling the x5

BMW should put in an adjustable air suspension... The GL, ML, and G class from Mercedes-Benz all have suspension that can be raised about 6 inches, as does the Land Rovers, and the Audi Q5
