The Holy Spirt is the Soul of the Church

In his Regina Coeli address in St Peters Square on Pentecost Sunday, Pope Benedict spoke of the Holy Spirit as being the soul of the Church. He said that without the Holy Spirit the Church would have been reduced to a large historical movement, perhaps a humanitarian kind of agency. The church in reality, the Holy Father went on to say, is continually moulded and driven by the Spirit of God. It is a living body, whose vitality is the fruit of the invisible divine Spirit.
