I love this new Coen brothers film, I just love them period! They're one of the most original filmmakers working in Hollywood today, and it's always refreshing to watch their films.
"A Serious Man" will be honored at this coming Oscars. Michael Stuhlbarg, definitely, for Best Actor, and perhaps, Richard Kind for Best Supporting.
Here's my interview with Kind. We talked about:
The Yiddish intro, what does it mean?
How he landed the role?
Who auditioned for what role?
Have fun!
More info about the film from Yahoo:
The story of an ordinary man's search for clarity in a universe where Jefferson Airplane is on the radio and F-Troop is on TV. It is 1967, and Larry Gopnik, a physics professor at a quiet Midwestern university, has just been informed by his wife Judith that she is leaving him. She has fallen in love with one of his more pompous acquaintances, Sy Ableman, who seems to her a more substantial person than the feckless Larry. Larry's unemployable brother Arthur is sleeping on the couch, his son Danny is a discipline problem and a shirker at Hebrew school, and his daughter Sarah is filching money from his wallet in order to save up for a nose job. While his wife and Sy Ableman blithely make new domestic arrangements, and his brother becomes more and more of a burden, an anonymous hostile letter-writer is trying to sabotage Larry's chances for tenure at the university. Also, a graduate student seems to be trying to bribe him for a passing grade while at the same time threatening to sue him for defamation. Plus, the beautiful woman next door torments him by sunbathing nude. Struggling for equilibrium, Larry seeks advice from three different rabbis. Can anyone help him cope with his afflictions and become a righteous person - a mensch - a serious man?

I also read George was a dear pal of Richards. Clooney lived with him and would scoop out the litterbox. So Richard would think his new kitten was sick. Then George used the littlerbox after Richard took the kitten for a vet check. Oh Kitty! Richard was said to yell. George also gave Richard a horrid picture he told Richard he painted. A true pal Richard hung it in his livingroom and thanked him. George finally had to fess up to the hoax. George for weeks told pals he was taking classes!

@ejgiv you're wrong. You clearly have no knowledge of Jewish lore, religion or history. If those are your conclusions I suggest you do some research and watch the movie again. It has a very happy ending and if you are blind to that you need to reevaluate your perception of this film.

- take the gaspipe, schmo!
That's absolutely asinine. That's like say's a Mike Leigh movie is "Anti-British", or 'Elmer Gantry' was "Anti-Christian", or that 'Deliverance' is "Anti-Southern"....
It's called: satire, ya lamebrained putzo.

When I think of Richard Kind I think of two things. Spin City (besides Michael J Fox) he was the reason I watched. And George Clooney. In a drugstore a few years ago I read a book about funny things actors do. I looked up George and read that he likes to take peoples cameras at parties and take butt pictures of himself to surprize people when they get the film back. Can you imagine?! Please take my camera George!

This is an awesome interview, great job Manny! I absolutely loved this film. "Uncle Arthur is in the bathroom again!" "I'll be out in a minute!"
