Poem by Rabindra Nath Tagore set to tune by Pankaj Kumar Mallick with the poet's permission, the first of such kind and used in the film MUKTI-Bengali in 1937. Mukti was the second film (where the story was not by Tagore) to use Tagore songs. The film title was given by Tagore himself. Another song from the film Aaj Sabar Range was used in Kanan Devi's voice on Tagore's advice. The first film to have Tagore songs was Talkie of Talkies also released in 1937 just about a month before Mukti release. Tomar Mohan Rupe was sung by Ranibala.
Dear Shri Guha, Kono shabda nei aapnake dhanyabad janabaar. Gaan ta amar kachhe chhilo kintu clippings from Mukti darun paoa. Bhalo thakun.

Pankaj Kumar's selection of Tagore songs are most philosophical than most singers. Current generation might not like his voice or understand/fathom Togore's true vibe, particularly who's command of Bengali inadequate and depth shallow.

The meaning of this song is(first para)
At the day's end, in the land of sleep
the hooded shadow has enchanted my heart
On the opposite shore , the golden shore
A magician's wand has transformed the darkness to a sonorous music

I always feel Pankaj Mallick was like K.L. Saigal. It is very hard to comprehend the extent of influence each had in shaping the music that we have come to know today.
