Slavoj Žižek interviewed by Al Jazeera in November of 2011. Topics include OWS, Egypt and the Arab Spring, the notion of Objective (vs. Subjective) violence, and what Zizek likes to call "Capitalism with Asian Values".
I think what he was subtly trying to say is that the new left will rise ironically on the American right. Milton Friedman claimed that one of his biggest regrets was not reclaiming the name 'liberal' from the left. No doubt if it does take off (Ron Paul has consistent polling in the primaries) it will follow the same trajectory communism did in Russia a century ago, that is, flourish in a cloud of optimism then descend into totalitarianism when it doesn't "work the way its supposed to".
