  • The piano needs tuning and the Welte mechanism is completely off-speed. It must be calibrated, there are calibrating rolls in existence but I don't know how easy it is to obtain them.

  • I found more info on speed. The Welte speed calibration roll has notes separated by 30 seconds of silence. The physical distance between the holes corresponding to those notes is about 147 centimetres (+/- 1.5%). So find two holes on your paper roll separated by this distance and tweak the speed until the time lapse between these notes as played is 30 seconds. Also, the museum could contact the Gilbert Kaplan Foundation, they probably know whom to talk to in Germany for more help.

  • please regulate the welte action, tune the piano, run the roll at the correct speed.....
