For years I dismissed this film because I thought it looked terrible - I've never been so happy to be proved wrong! This is an amazing film!

@MrJontheknight Yes but its the cold nature of Hoffman's delivery. The fact is that i honestly don't think he sees Ferrel's character as a person anymore, just as a charactter. This is a man's life that he wants to destroy for a bestseller. I really do not agree with that.

@OTimeMasterXO Its also, not because of JUST the book, His reasoning is basically this. How would you rather die, A Beautiful, young death. Or die of old age. Not only, after reading the outline; he agreed and accepted his fate. The professor didnt want him to die ethier. But like he says "Its the nature of all tradegies, and the story will live on forever"

Strangely enough, i think this is the scene that bought the film from very good to amazing. I loved this film, but my bloody sister has nicked my DVD!

I bought the film yesterday & watched it today. It's a good film, funny in parts, touching, and emotional. And I cried loads when I saw this scene - thanks to Will's tears again. The other touching scene was when he read the whole book on the bus, then told Ms Eiffel that she had to finish the book..... that got me again!

OMG. I never knew Will Ferrell could act like this! This clip made me cry so much, especially when I saw Will's tears. I've not heard of this film before, must try to get it as from the clips I've seen it looks very good.
Might be, Will Ferrel is a pretty good actor.
People tend to see some of his other films and forget that.
