I was at this concert too and as I remember the ABB were not that good, Duane had passed, Berry was soon to follow and they seemed a bit out of it, but Johnny came on as encore, stole the show and made it a great night at the Bowl. THANKS

@mcleanartists - Why don't don't you tell us what you really think, LOL. This is all opinon based obviously but from my humble perspective of 35 years playing guitar and other instruments, he has taken the genre to a whole new level. As innovative as Duane's playing was, we'll just never know what he would have evolved to musically, because his life was cut short at such a young age.

@GTX1123 Bull SHIT. rotflmao He's a fusion techno player
-
you derek trucks groupies are pitiful, this is what he's copying you idiots.

always loved Johnny and the ABB since the early 70's, this is cool! Never saw Duane, but seen Johnny 4 times - amazing shows in '74(arena) & the early 80's(small club) and last year, it was great to see him playin' great again...even if he had to sit for most of the show. My favorite slide player of all time...he can still lay it down :)

Sounds like Statesboro Blues....

WHAT A DREAM SHOW WISH I WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE

@gary1497 - What convinced me was when I saw the bros live in 04 (I saw them 3 times back in the 70's). There is no one and I mean no one that can play the things Derek Trucks plays with a slide. I certainly in no way mean to diminish what Duane and Johnny achieved but Trucks has gone waaaaaaay beyond what anyone has ever done on slide. Although their styles were different, Derek Trucks is to slide guitar what Danny Gatton was to Rockabilly / Redneck Jazz. Trucks is a true innovator.

@GTX1123 Nope Derek Trucks has NOT surpassed either of those two genius's, he's got a long road ahead of him before he could even hold the same slide as these two masters. It's a matter of taste and guitar playing is not a competition or sport.
INCREDIBLE! Makes you wonder what the Bros would have been like if Johnny had joined them. But it could never happen because Johnny was/is just too talented as a solo artist. I was a HUGE fan of Johnny and Duane growing up. Everyone always ranked Duane as the greatest slide player ever but Johnny was every bit as good. Derek Trucks surpasses them both.

@GTX1123
Thanks for your comment:)
I confirm , that Derek is a prodigy who has exceeded his masters ! ! !
also because he is younger and less physically worn
by a long life exhausting of a Rock Star. It was nice to see him participate in the tribute album of J.Winter, '' Roots'' on this title '' Dust My Broom'' Feat. Derek Trucks (2011)

Darkening Skies, howdy, Cool idea , you know Johnny is to great to be in a crowded band. He is the show, lead guitar, lead Vocal, Greg Allman love his voice, isn't going to replace Johnny's voice, Johnny Winter is a one man show, greatest of all times.
