I read somewhere that at the Cunningham farmhouse someone had put gasoline in a can marked "kerosene" and when one of the boys poured it in the stove there was a terrible explosion. What a tragedy due to someone's carelessness.

I think it is truly amazing that Glenn Cunningham achieved the Silver after suffering a terrible childhood accident of burns at 8 years old. His 13 year old brother died in the accident. With Cunningham, doctors recommended amputation on his legs. He lost skin off his knees, shins, all toes on his left foot and his transverse arch destroyed. I heard he would make loud and painful noises while racing that often disturbed his competitors. Still, he set world records. I love his courage and more!

Cunningham (the guy who finished second) kept running inside of the first lane marker. He steps inside the first lane several times between 2:32 and 2:39. I suppose that this was legal back in 1936.
