The program starts with a clip from a 2002 interview of then State Senator Barack Obama by "Public Affairs" show host and executive legal recruiter Jeff Berkowitz. The show also includes extensive excerpts from a press conference held at the Democratic Leadership Council National Conversation in Chicago on June 30, 2008. Asking questions are WTTW's Carol Marin, Real Clear Politics' Tom Bevan, Public Affairs' Jeff Berkowitz and others.

Topics discussed at the presser include strengths and weaknesses of Obama's presidential candidacy, Obama and patriotism, the Supreme Court's decision holding the Washington, DC handgun ban unconstitutional, Hillary Clinton's strength as a primary candidate, the constitutional right to use a gun in one's home for self defense and other gun issues, what Obama may need to do to strengthen his campaign and other national public policy issues. Answering questions are Chicago's Mayor Richard M. Daley, Governor Kathleen Sebelius (D-KS) [a potential Obama VP nominee] and DLC Chairman Harold Ford.

DLC Chairman Harold Ford, former Democratic Congressman and 2006 U. S. Senate candidate from Tennessee, was interviewed by show host Jeff Berkowitz after the above-referenced presser. Topics discussed include whether or not the liberal Senator Barack Obama's views mesh with the more centrist or conservative DLC, whether the DLC is, in fact, centrist or conservative, whether expanded U. S. off shore drilling is the answer to high gas prices and a number of other energy issues and how Chairman Ford voted on the so-called Iraq War Powers Resolution in 2002 and what that vote, by him and others, meant.

Chairman Ford was also questioned on camera by the Chicago Sun-Times' Abdon Pallasch as Ford, Pallasch, Berkowitz and his cameraman for that day, Raza Siddiqui (Skyline Media Inc.), took a stroll down the hall and the Hyatt escalator.

Cong. Rahm Emanuel (D-Chicago, 5th CD) is interviewed briefly by Jeff Berkowitz about the desirability or non-desirability of allowing off-shore drilling and Attorney General [and potential 2010 gubernatorial candidate] Lisa Madigan (D-IL) is interviewed briefly by Jeff Berkowitz about social security reform and Illinois' budget deficit.
