This video contains the overtime goals and PK's
Rules: If the teams are tied after 90 minutes of Game, they must play two 15 minute periods of overtime with no Golden goal (sudden death goals)
If teams are tied afterwards, they must have sudden death penalty kicks to see who wins. 1st to 5 wins, I believe
@EmeraldIsleStar I see your point. Iwashimizu went for the ball, but she couldn't account for Alex Morgan's positioning and speed. Being the last defender and her action resulting in a foul, I can see why the referee pulled out the red card.

It was an automatic red card---I am glad it did not affect the outcome of the match---As I was rooting for japan---
However it was a good and necessary foul. I heard the british commentators call it a professional foul

I agree. Iwashimizu didn't deserve the red card. The referee was always giving advantage to the USA team throughout the match. It wasn't fair...but even so Japan won the World Cup...it's amazing...they really deserved.

The red card seemed a bit harsh. Iwashimizu clearly went for the ball, but the ref saw it differently. Oh well.

I remember Ian Darke saying that a red card had never been issued in a Women's World Cup Final before and Julie Foudy responded, "Ian Darke; don't jinx it." Look what happened... LOL!!
