Im converting a P38 Range Rover to run a 3.0 TD6 engine. Video clips unploaded here. Part 1 shows the 3.0 TD6 engine removed from its BMW 330D donor car, with all the loom etc plugged back up and the ignition on. We re-connected the majority of the loom, powered it up and on came the dash instruments and the engine turns over. Next step is to run the engine on the floor. Watch this space!

  • Just buy an L322 3.0 TD6 Range Rover, at least then you get the rest of the modernised car and not just the engine.....

  • i was thinking of doing this but a top aftermarket land rover dealer told me its difficult and you get lots of warnings from the engine ect..?

  • WTF

  • complex!!!

Did land rover ever fit a 3.0 td6?

I know they used a 2.5 bmw diesel, was the bigger diesel the tdv6?

  • Hi!Have u finished that?i recently bought an '00 diesel P38.the engine is running well but i'm thinking about doing that conversion and sell the p38's engine while it's still running. :P.i hope u could give me some information... tanks

  • I don't know why you'd bother with this conversion. It would be a far better option to buy a 99 - 01 HSE then put it on LPG. You can get more power out the engine and reduce the running costs. Good Luck all the same.

  • My vehicle is the same, any chance you can give me some pointers. Mine is the manual gearbox but will be ok so i am told. It has a poorly 4.0 litre petrol in it, but a guy in Derbyshire says he can do the conversion wiring etc. I need the 2.5 bell housing, flywheel and clutch, remachined spigot bush, a 2.5 o/s engine mounting but will need to manufacture a n/s engine mount. Do you have an email address so i can get intouch.

    Kev.

  • hi i have just finished one of thees conversions a month or so a go to a 1995 p38a have it putting out 225 B.H.P and it goes very well i must say, the next one iam doing a auto H.S.E. very soon.

  • this should be a good conversion when done, i think this will be the first, Wanna do mine anyone????
