Probably I know more about semantic and linguistic than you, by the way you are not a linguist, you are a polyglot. Linguistics is the scientific study of natural language. Linguistics encompasses a number of sub-fields. An important topical division is between the study of language structure (grammar) and the study of meaning (semantics). Grammar encompasses morphology (the formation and composition of words),

I use the word linguist how I like, to mean a person who speaks more than one language, and the Oxford dictionary also recognizes this usage.

I cannot begin to tell you how useless I consider the study of linguistics and all it sub-fields to be.

I disagree with you, I dont think that only listening and reading is the best way to learn a language, so why are there so many books for learning? Language needs repetitions, and vocabulary and grammar, if it were as easy as you say, there wouldnt be so many language schools in the world, you are only a person who is making money with people who pay for your lousy method! Shame on you!!!!!

strange that i saw this today. This morning i took a standardized test in school and i was thinking about the fact that the reading section of the test was useless. They don't need to check comprehension skills. Obviously, if we can read the test we can understand english.

What a bunch of assholes you are, this lectures are directed to languaje students not for people who wants to learn how to speak a new languaje. Any way is up to people to get into courses or not, in fact you are not even obliged to listen to anybody on the internet, look at some other stuff and stop "waisting your time" instead of insulting people who do at least something. evelioto, he visto que has escrito mensajes en muchos idiomas. Yo solo comprendo inglés y francés. Como hables los otros idiomas tan mal como el francés que escribes creo que no vamos a quedar muy impresionados con tu "exhibición".

Una persona que está aprendiendo un idioma no necesita a un linguista o a un erudito, para aprender la lengua.

Todos los niños aprenden y ¿quienes les enseñan a hablar? ¿ especialistas en semántica o gramática? No, claro que no.

So, it is not how many languages a person speaks,(I speak 6) it is the communicative approach, If you do not use the languages you forget them, so there are dozens of methods of learning a foreign language and all. All of them include the skeleton of the language (Grammar of course)all of them include the four main skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing)it is absurd and ridiculous pretending to learn a language only by two of the four main skills.
