  • HAVE YOU GOT CO2 diffuser in yr tank ?

  • Nice looking tank, hope it is all going well.

  • nice house

  • @hydralisk3313 Thanks man, I've got it (I think) under control...still a learning process for me in such a "small" aquarium..I have a Koi pond on my property and I'm good with that...thank you for your answer.

  • That'll start the cycling system naturally. Even gravel vaccuming and water changes won't help all that much against Ammonia. It'll help, but it won't finish it. Not even water conditioners. Best to buy that stuff. Or, you can just get a rock or anything from another tank that HAS been cycled and put it into the new tank. Which will then disperse it's bacteria all over the tank. Hope that helps.

  • @slapurmommaz I'll say what it basically is. Fish waste ends up accumulating over time resulting in Ammonia. When Ammonia levels are too elevated it is bad for the fish. In a way, the fish poison themselves. To keep ammonia levels at 0 or around there, it is important to have "beneficial bacteria". It's bacteria that will turn the waste into an element that is not harmful to the fish and can be filtered with the filter. You can get some bacteria rocks or liquids that are sold in pet stores.

  • Your gonna need at lest 40gal for that algae eater they grow to 2 ft in length but are not fishkillers don't worry about that

  • New to this, can you tell me please what you mean by the tank is going through its first cycle? Thank you.
