  • @boychildnew1 randy newman and jacques brel have much in common.a scott sings newman album would have made a great companion to scott sings brel.

  • A great example of how apparent simplicity can be hugely powerful.

  • Those two are on the same wave length! You don't often get that with music interviews :P

  • Thanks so much for posting. I've been a fan since the 60's when I first heard him. Got his albums and now his cd's...Thank you Mr Newman for making fun of the bad stuff in this jumbled world. If we could only get more to listen. But then the ones who it pertains to will never see themselves in his work.

  • His songs are both dark, however, there can be a black humor in some of his works especially when he is using an argument to ridiculousness

  • Great stuff, very interesting.

  • Ihis interview is invaluable as it pretty much shows Randy in a serious mood with plenty of disdain and not much respect for his audience and his songs are and should be taken as serious songs but most people can't stomach them that way, so he goes along with characterizing them as comic songs, it's a very complex way he approaches people, thoughts, songwriting....he's good, he's no one's fool, but we are his .....

  • He's one of the few that Scott Walker admired, and what a fan to have!

  • i am so inspired by this man its crazy. We look at writing music the same way. I have literally said some of the same things in interviews without ever seeing this. Thank you so much for posting!

  • awesome - and a lesson to techs everywhere

TO LEAVE THE LOUSY DIGITAL VERB OFF THE SONG

    cause you'll be ashamed later
