2 Ladies Jig Appalachian Style @ Southern Birthday Hoedown

Two dancers jig with very different styles of solo Appalachian dance (with boots and tap shoes). Tennessee and Georgia oldtime musicians play for a back-porch style hoedown jam to celebrate the birthday party of a "Georgia Friend of Oldtime/Bluegrass." ("Doc") Note how down in these parts toddlers walk around mini banjos and fiddles.

Rebekka Weiler on guitar next to fellow "human metronome" and his banjo pickin' son. Bass groove provided by Chip. Mick fiddling and singin' next to Knoxville fiddler. Tune is "fly around" aka "susanna gal".

Nothing boosts the spirits during the saturday-night-winter blahs more than playing banjo & dancing with hot fiddlers/rhythm section. Yee Ha! Happy Birthday, Doc.

Nice to see a young lady dancing the same dance that her mother and grandmother danced before her. It's really a pity that some people would watch this video and think "they're just a bunch of dumb white hicks". Somewhere along the line this type of thinking became acceptable in the mainstream.
