...let there be colour... a series of works named "Play" by wahliao.com

http://www.wahliao.com

This video is dedicated to the people who work tirelessly in sunny Singapore. A tiny dot on the map, but a huge force to be reckoned with.

We are who we are, and boy, it should be fun all the way. Let there be colour in your lives. =)

This video, together with "Random" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSdel0B0fCo... is a collection of videos that showcase Singapore and its people.

Photographed by lifestyle photographer Wong Kin Leong for wahliao.com/photography. This video is a collage shot on a Nikon camera system.

A showcase of Singapore and its multi faceted life, as a metropolitan city rooted in its colonial history and an Asian jewel bursting with diversity and culture. The photos are themed to the amazing colour scheme that was meticulously developed by Kin Leong and processed to this stage of development. Carefully chosen to reflect Singapore in its myriad spectrums, the process involved deliberation on every 223 photos for its colours and thoughts and feel of the place.

It starts off with the heartlands of Singapore, a neighbourhood of housing estates developed by HDB, and lunch occurs usually at a local eatery called "kopitiam". A local affair costs SGD$3 for a simple meal. Pretty decent food for a decent price.

Then there's the housing estate itself, in Bedok, Singapore. Organised into townships filled with blocks of flatted apartments with self sustaining facilities that includes sports, markets and commercial capabilities within reach, Singaporeans are never far away from everyday convenience plus it veins into the city with buses and the mass rail system, SMRT.

And then we have our benchmark airport, Changi International, Terminal 2. A world class facility which hires 13,000 people, Changi Airport handles 4000 plus flights per week and hubs the north of the world to its south, and the west to the east as well. Visitors transit through Europe to Australia, and from the Americas to Asia. Recently completing its building of Terminal 3 plus upgrading works to Terminal 1 and 2 brings its facilities to the 21st century. Accompanied by Mango, they trail through the airport and discovers its colours and architecture.

As we move onto the next stage, SMRT, the rail system of Singapore, which connects major neighbourhoods to each other and into the city centre gets its showcase. Passenger capacities of half a billion per year, it is the way to travel in Singapore as fares range from SGD$1 to $2 per trip and provides timely predictable clean transport and negates all traffic jams on the streets.

Simei, another neighbourhood town takes us deeper and looks at our students and their studies, plus the lives of a typical Singaporean. The inner dwellings of an HDB estate and an intimate look into our lives. As rain pours down, Singapore receives two monsoons a year and with a typical hot humid weather of around 22-34 dec C throughout the year guarantees us a rather easy way to dress for the day, with no need to cover up for the seasons.

Shenton Way is our last stop, our banking and commercial district that wows all and gathers and transacts trade by the billions. The throbbing heart of the nation houses the 4th largest foreign exchange after New York, London, and Tokyo. And its strength creates a per capita GDP of USD24,474 (2007). With an excess of USD$177billion in foreign exchange reserves, its 4.84 million residents makes Singapore the 5th wealthiest country in the world in terms of per capita GDP.

Alas, we end with a trip home, and another video awaits. A metropolitan city, and a never ending quest of perfection. And peace for all who viewed. God Bless. Thanks for watching and don't forget... Be Yourself!
