Home of the Herkimer Diamonds, Middleville sits in the Kuyahoora valley in front of Harter Hill. I mention Harter Hill a lot in my videos, because it stands out at the northeastern corner of a block of hills. I have never heard anyone mention it's name. I get this information from a number of topo maps I have studied over the years. But I haven't confirm the names of the hills with any locals. The topos also show that there are two peaks up there, very close to each other. One is Harter Hill and the other is Schrader Hill. A whole series of hills continues southward, from there, to the Mohawk.
The Christmas music in the background is not mine. I don't know who the artist is. A friend of mine gave me the cassette over 20 years ago with no name. If anyone reconizes the artist, let me know.
Fairfield is a hamlet in the town of Fairfield; three miles east of Middleville. It sits on the western slope of Barto Hill which seperates the watersheds of both East and West Canada Creeks. Also, nearby nest to Davis Rd., is a very tall radio tower. I can see that thing all the way into Montgomery and Fulton Counties.
I grew up in Middleville in the 60's and 70's. Have lived in Los Angeles for the past 21 years.
Your video is wonderful !!!
We lived on So. Main St. near the old elementary school.
