Shirley Valentine - Act1 Scene1 (1/5)

I was lucky enough to do two tours of the wonderful one-woman play 'Shirley Valentine' by Willy Russell, author of 'Blood Brothers' and 'Educating Rita'. This performance was recorded at Bradford Theatre Royal in 1991 on a less-than-wonderful video camera from the front of the first balcony, hence the poor picture quality; the sound is not too bad though.

By the way, I noticed on your channel that you commented on some 'Blood Brothers' clips. I played Linda in the original Bill Kenwright production back in '87. Unfortunately, after two tours, I wasn't able to go into town with it as I had some telly stuff that I couldn't work around. I'm still pissed off about that to this day - but that's show business for ya!!! ;-)

@Pamandymagic - aww right well according to my 2 tour programmes (one from each year) that would make you Pamela power. I am a huge fan of Blood Brothers - seen it 17 times in last 5 years and seeing it again twice in Londoon on saturday.

You could always audition and return to the show now in a different role.

Wonderful to see this vibrant and funny portrayal. She must have been a fabulous character to play, all that chatty and charming gusto. I love the line about how she felt at 25, one of so many great lines in "Shirley Valentine", and there are so many here in this scene. :)
