  • When ever a person contradicts themselves, I get the feeling that they don't respect who they are talking to. At least Hilary is blatant that she doesn't respect the American people (look up her Punjabi comment with reference to outsourcing).

  • The republicans couldn't fix it with the dems blocking the bill. You need a 60% vote. Not to mention that the dems painted anyone who wanted to fix the problem as racist or against the working man. The bailout wasn't a fix and their were over 90 democrats who voted against it also if the dems wanted to pass it they only needed 12 more votes to get the 60% but they did tell their democratic members who were up for reelection not to vote for the bail out.

  • Even if the dems denied there was a problem, why didn't the Republicans fix it anyway? They had a majority in both houses of Congress as well as the Executive so there is no excuse for them not to have passed it unless they didn't want to. Even if the dems were to blame then, why is it that the Republicans blocked this bailout on monday? They obviously don't care about fixing the problem. If they were so eager to fix it then, why aren't they fixing it now?

  • In 04 rep were begging to regulate the housing industry but dems claimed everything was ok. They said rep just didn't want minorities to own homes. There has been more than 1 attempt to fix this problem but dems denied there was a problem to fix. Now that the problem is obvious they want to blame a rep admin even though Bush has asked congress to fix the problem over & over since April 01. Fannie & Freddie paid the dems off if reps were at fault there would be an investigation & heads would role

  • The American worker is strong and the system in which we built our economy on is strong. The problem is with the housing market. Sub prime loans started with Carter to help poor people buy homes & Clinton expanded them out of control. Clinton made it too easy to get loans & poor people who work pay check to pay check can't pay their mortgage when the cost of gas doubles & food prices go up. Bush has tried since 01 to get this fixed but dems killed it saying it would be unfair.

  • Even if McCain tried to fix Fannie & Freddie in 05, it was his deregulation beliefs that made way for this financial crisis. He championed deregulation for over 2 decades and NOW he suddenly is calling for regulation of Wall Street. Cheap political move. He "suspends" his campaign to fix the economy, but instead of immediately leaving to D.C., he campaigns about not campaigning for 22 hours. He even had an ad declaring him the debate winner when he hadn't even announced he decided to debate yet

  • Ok. Sure the fundamentals can be strong during a crisis, but why did he say that by fundamentals he meant the workers? He knew it was a mistake. own up to it. Republicans have dominated both houses from 2001 to 2006 so there is no excuse blaming democrats. I will say that it is the democrat's fault for not passing legislation after that but the blame falls on the Rep. from 01 to 06. Obama tried to get legislation moving on Fannie and Freddie in 06 as well.

  • You can be in an economic crisis and the fundamentals of the economy be good. By the way Bush has been asking congress to fix Fanny Mae & Freddy Mac since April 2001 and the dems have killed every attempt to fix the problem. 2005 McCain co-sponsored a bill to address the problem but dems killed it. Seems they were getting to much money from the 2 firms.

  • Really? A man who says the fundamentals of the economy were strong, then says 7 days later that we are in a severe economic crisis? Once the White House released its plan to fix the economy, McCain had 5 days to read that three page plan and he hadn't read it yet. He was too busy campaigning that he was suspending his campaign. If he really wanted to fix the economy he'd put down the microphone and pick up the treasury's plan to decide if it's good or not.

  • What's a "Rebublican"?

Anyways, the republicans started here in Ohio, long b/4 Obama OK'd negative campaigning. McCain took the lead, of course Palin helped. Now that Obama started flinging the mud back, Obama has take the EV lead. I guess if pigs want to wear lipstick & play in the mud....be ready, because there just might be a bigger mudslinger....
