alpha and beta tests will start this year, so if we are lucky there will be a gw2 in 2011 but it´s not sure. if you don´t believe me, look at the official gw2 page and go to FAQ where they talk about the closed and open beta...

@ARSP33LS the world is almost done and the game will come out when all the profession is done so maybe it will come earlier than 2011

Earliest the game will arrive is most likely spring 2011, the main reason is that they want the game to absolutely blow away people's minds. the second reason is that creating the under water worlds is difficult, how to maneuver and fight and just create a whole other world takes time.
