anyone who says dylan was the best songwriter of any period of time has no sense of music at all

@bobbydylanio I am not trying to say Bob Dylan is not a talented singer or musician. I am aware of this, and I am not even a big Bob Dylan fan. All I am trying to say is that I prefer their version to his. His was too slow for me, not enough passion for the song, but I can acknowledge he originally did it. Unfortunately, sometimes covers are better than the originals. I hate to say that, but it is true.

@horrorshow20000 The dregs of Dylan mauls the best material The Turtles would ever ever write, anyone that can't see that is blind or deaf.

I prefer how Bob Dylan sounds like a duck singing out of his nose.

who is singing this?

Dylan was quoted in the 60s as having said The Turtles version was his least favorite cover of all his songs. I guess it's because they had a hit with it.
-
Yep they sing it better then anyone by far

@HEARTHEANGELSVOICES who knows, this is bob dylan poetry. The poetry of this great man will never be fully understood. So who then "who the hell it is."

I was in my childhood years when these dudes were rockin, 7, 8 years old. I thought they called themselves the turtles cuz they appeared to be fat, compared to other musicians like the The Beatles and the Stones back then.

Johnny Cash did the best cover of this great Dylan song
I am aware that Bob Dylan is a great musician, but many covered his songs, and sorry Dylan, but I have heard his version of his song, and I prefer the Turtles' version. I do not know, as I said, Bob Dylan is a superb musician, but I am not just a big fan of him, I do like "like a rolling stone" though.

horrorshow2000: I agree with you. That was my point. I do believe Dylan was the greatest American songwriter of the latter half of the 20th century, but (especially during the time he was making what many feel were his most magical albums, 1965-66) he could be a first-class, insolent, nasty jerk. I love the Turtles' version of this song (I reserve judgment on whether I like their or Dylan's version best; it depends on my mood) and I love the Turtles in general.
