An overview of the takeaway.

As stated in the video, there are plenty of variations to this. A lot will depend on body type as well as your attachment to the club.

  • Martin, do you want the wall on your target line or feet line when you catch it?

    Thanks

The wall is used as a visual in the video, but you should feel the wall of resistance to turning in your torso. There's only so far your hands can get to the side of your body with both hands on the club. Get that part taken care of as soon as you can and you eliminate the chance that your arms will run off in transition.

  • I just took the time to apply this to my own swing from 8i through Driver and I love the connectedness it imparts from takeaway through impact. Thank you for sharing. I'll be placing this into practice. Very well presented!

What's valuable is it works in practice from the get-go, thus I can practice into an understanding, then backtrack should grasping it cognitively be necessary. It works very well within what I'm already doing.

I'll be spending some time this evening digging into the rest of your videos. Thank you for sharing!

  • Martinez - is your takeaway the same for all clubs and all shots?

  • XLNT!

    Im passing it along..

  • Great stuff. This really helped me with my club head coming inside too fast at the takeaway. Only suggestion would be to also refer people to the Golf Lesson - Part 1 video where you talk about wrist rotation toward the target, because thinking of that and the wall together was the real aha moment for me.

    Thanks!
