@Ashitaka1110 Not really, Gaijin 外人 is just short for 外国人, which is foreigner, meaning you're not from that nation. 外国=foreign country. 外(prounced soto) means outside, but not the outside as in outsider, just outside like outside your house or outside of a place... If it were outsider then you'd pronounce it sotojin, which makes no sense since 外(そと、soto) is a Kun yomi (native reading) and 外人( ガイジン、gaijin), is On yomi (chinese reading) China being a 外国, foreign country which they adopted 漢字 kanji
