A Very Moving Experience

Founded in 1993 by Claudia Rudolf Barrett, and located in north east Cincinnati our school provides students with the opportunity to develop performance skills and activities that are essential to the growth of a professional dancer. We offer classes for students ages 2 years to adult.

While we can agree that everyone can dance, not everyone can be a ballerina. Which is why at ballet tech® of ohio we offer classes in ballet, jazz, tap and modern dance. Taught by professional world renowned artists.

We provide training for those who seek a professional career as well as classes for those who just want to dance.

Ms. Barrett's vision for ballet tech® of ohio remains to have a first class school that nurtures the dancer in mind, body and spirit and cultivates respect for the art of dance.

Performance opportunities will provide appropriate ballets that uphold this vision and can lead the aspiring dancer to a professional career.

Ms. Barrett's mission is to educate, inspire and entertain young dancers and their audiences through exposure to highly qualified professionals in the field.

Ms. Barrett, considered an icon in the dance community and the success of her students are a testament to her stellar reputation.

bto students have received scholarships and have been accepted to prestigious summer programs, schools and companies such as American Ballet Theater, School of American Ballet, Chautauqua, Nutmeg Ballet, Nutmeg Academy, Cincinnati Ballet, Quad Cities Ballet, Interlochen, Universal Dance Academy (formerly Kirov Academy), Midwest, North Carolina School of the Arts, Houston Ballet, The Washington School of Ballet, Boston Ballet, Russian Ballet Academy of Indiana, Miami City Ballet School and Dance Theater of Harlem. Students have also been awarded medals and scholarships at Youth American Grand Prix (YAGP) in New York City.

We hold the philosophy that performance is a family affair and that it's not enough for young performers to see professional productions. It's essential for students to be involved in them. Standards are set early in life, so it's just as well to set those standards high.

Each year, ballet tech® of ohio presents the greater Cincinnati area with major dance programs in which professional and pre-professional dancers consistently offer the highest quality entertainment.

In 2006 bto established the Grow A Great Dancer program, created and implemented by a registered nurse, a member of the International Association of Dance, Medicine and Science (IADMS). Offering education about nutrition and injury prevention in collaborations with world renown physiotherapist Lisa Howell and neuromuscular expert Deb Vogel.

That same year bto implemented their Grow A Great Reader program where performance theme book giveaways, poster contests and opportunities for audience members to meet the author and book signings.

Any school can train a student. However, not everyone can teach appropriately and safely. ballet tech® of ohio offers programs of study in a unique and nurturing environment. Our faculty cultivates respect for the art of dance while adhering to the philosophy of our name. Merging the classical and traditional in synergy with the Internet and today's cutting edge technology, offering unique, collaborative programs not found elsewhere.
