Arranged Marriage To My Best Buddy; Ch. 1 {Jemi Love Story} {Part 4}

"Shut up. If you have a problem with me tell me or leave me alone" I said storming away from him. I weaved my way toward my mom. She was talking to Joe's father.

"Hi mom, Hello Mr. Jonas" I said greeting them both.

"Ah, Demi, good. We need to make an announcement" Joe's father said putting a hand on my shoulder.

I wasn't quite sure what kind of announcement they had in mind, but I followed my mother onto the stage where the band was playing.
My mother held her hand up as a signal for the band to stop playing. She took the microphone from the singer and pulled me beside her.

"Now I am sure that you all are wondering what this party is about" My mom rambled on. While she spoke I looked around the audience for Joe. I found him staring at me from the middle of the crowd. This time he didn't look away, he kept staring right into my eyes until this time it was me who turned away.

I looked back towards my mom who was still talking about marriage or something.

"As you all know my daughter will be 18 in 6 months on August 20th. We have arranged for her to marry by this time" This comment made me jump.

"MARRY? WHO?" I demanded. Silence filled the crowd.

"Honey, I know I should have told you sooner, but I thought that you might not come to the party if you knew what it was for" She explained.

"But you didn't answer my question. WHO?" I demanded yet again.

She glanced at Mr. Jonas for help. "Demi, we have arranged for you to marry my son" Mr. Jonas said quickly.

"HIM?" I stammered pointing out into the crowd towards Joe.

"Wait a second..." I jumped off the stage and practically ran to Joe. "Is this why you have been acting all weird?" I asked him standing on my tiptoes and staring him straight in the eye. He nodded.

"This is why you have been an ass?" I asked. The guests forming a circle around the two of us.

My mom and Joe's dad pushed through the crowd and came to a halt a few feet from me.

"I wouldn't exactly call it being -" he started, but I cut him off with a glare and he just finished with a nod.

"So you knew about this?" I yelled at him.
