I grew up in Bakersfield in the early 60's. I got to see Buck, Merle and a lot more. I absolutly love their music still. I agree that the original recordings are the best, but there were some great performances on the HEE HAW show too.
Thank you for posting this.

@jemogan You need to hear the original version of Buck's song. This is his later "Hee Haw" version. He experimented with his sound in the early 1970's. The original version is much better. Fogerty's version is very good...but his voice doesn't match the sound of Buck and Don Rich.

Another #1 hit for Buck Owens on the Country & Western charts. It was the 79th #1 song on the C&W charts in the Rock Era. And it is becoming obvious that Country Music has found its breakout star of the 1960's. We miss you, Buck.

I don't remember this as a Buck Owens song. I first heard it last year on John Fogerty's Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again album, and I loved it. As much credit as we need to give to Buck for this gem, I like Fogerty's version better - it's snappier and more joyous, which is the way this song should be sung.

It was around late 1969 - early 1970.
