I think I understand this magnetic gearing principle now. it's a moiré effect because the iron pieces only conduct samples of the outer magnetic ring.
but it seems to me that for an electric motor there is no advantage to magnetic gearing as it is more weight efficient to simply drive the final axis directly.

This is a proven technology which is technically mature and now reaching commercial maturity. A range of both magnetic gears and PDDs have been manufactured and tested examples are shown on our website.
