@FridaySternShow You obviously never saw 2001: a Space Odyssey. the monolith is a symbol of science fiction. the Monolith is never explained in the Space Odyssey series, leaving viewers to their own conclusions about what the monolith was. A machine? deity? a form of life? That is what made it a symbol, the multiple interpretations and mystery, which says much more than some stupid epitaph or writing on it would. It stands for a principle you would do well to familiarize yourself with.
