I've bought two marmot rainjackets that were advertized as waterproof and neither were at all. When I've called Marmot the representatives I spoke to were rude and the only help they offered was that I could pay to send their faulty products back to them and then wait 6 weeks for them to deal with it. Very disappointed.
I've purchased ONE Marmot product. A light-weight rain jacket that was NOT water repellant. Oh, in light fog, or a slight drizzle it would keep me dry for a while. But, if the drizzle continued for over an hour, or if there was a constant or sudden rain, it didn't perform at all. I purchased the jacket at a high-end equipment store. It was a brand I'd recognized, sold at a store I trusted. Never again....
If needed repeat the previous step. Remove as much water as you can from the garment and you then should let it hang dry in a cool environment. If you need to retreat the DWR you can use the TX direct wash in from Nikwax if its a shell with no lining, the TX direct spray for shells with a lining. Its a long post but if followed correctly, your gear will last you many years of solid use.
Using a soft bristle brush work the stain until completely saturated. Then rinse thoroughly using cold water(repeat the step if needed). When your ready to wash, submerge the garment in cold water and begin adding the tech wash. Agitate the garment so that the tech wash detergent is consistently throughout the water. Rinse off the garment under cold running water and refill once again with clean cold water. Add the garment back into the water and agitate it until the wash has been removed.
I've been using technical gear for many years now and have used powdered detergent to clean shells years back. As my experience grew I started cleaning gear using Nikwax as it was a better solution to maintain the longevity of your gear. I've started using Nikwax tech wash which a friend had referred me to and have not looked back. Always pretreat any stains before you wash. Saturate the area where the stain(s) are using cold water and with a bit of tech wash.
@marmotpro I'm afraid to wash my zeus jacket! the tag says "down wash" but I can't find any of that where I live. I guess I should just use powder then? and what heat cycle should you dry it at?
A few obvious questions: Washing: 1. What temperature should the water be 2. Are agitator type machines OK? Or are front loaders better? 3. What speed? Gentle / Normal / Heavy Duty? 4. Can shells be washed with anything else? Should they be? Drying: 1. High heat, low heat, or Air Fluff? Does it matter? 2. Is air drying OK? Or is the dryer better to restore DWR? Miscellaneous: 1. What do all those international symbols on the tags mean? (I guess I can google them) Help!!!

@heatherbernstein ..There are clear washing instructions sewn into the garment but below are basic guidelines.
1. Warm
2. Front loader is better for everything. Agitator is #1 reason for product damage.
3.Normal is fine
4.Yes but make sure to zip up the zippers and secure velcro.
1.Med or High is fine.
2.Better not to air dry as the DWR will be inactive. Heat reactivates DWR.
