I am named Melody Ann after the song

Regardless of the nit picking who was who and who was best. These guys gave us some great music to enjoy for eternity. I cover their songs regularly and always smile with I sing their songs. And yes Toy was a fantastic guitarist. Blazing thumb.

@melodious110 cool song and name

@melree30, Me too. My dad would always sing it to me, I never heard the original until now. He passed away June 14th, 2011, and this is the first time I've heard the MTB rendition. I would give the world away just to hear my dad sing it one more time.

I was lucky enough to see Marshall Tucker 13 times between 1976 and 1982 - 7 with Tommy - 6 without. One day in the spring of 1982, they announced on a friday that they would be giving a FREE concert the next day in Teaneck, NJ. They played for almost 2 1/2 hours. I was there, right up against the stage, George playing right in front of me. My cooler loaded with cold beer under the stage, I kept the Band from getting thirsty. It was good enough for an invite onto the Bus after the show. AWESOME!
No not Tommy"s only song he had 4 others atleast inc this ole cowboy

@302ponyboy This is the only song he sang Lead on, "this Ole' Cowboy" was originally sung by Toy Caldwell.
I think Tommy had the best voice in the entire band.

April 28 2010 is exactly 30 years since Tommy passed away to the Lord, may he still rest in peace!

I agree! But no matter who is part of the MTB today, the music will always live on!
