@AlysoN654 Because Aussie TV show producers are homophobic. They only make such characters gay to capitalise on the 'shock factor' in order to boost the show's ratings knowing full well they have no intention of keeping the character gay. They then quickly turn the character back to being straight in order to appease the rantings of the Religious Right who have already kicked up a hell of a stink about them having a 'gay' character/couple on the show in the first place. :-(
